JSIL = ISIL?

Is the 'Jewish State in the Levant' equal to the 'Islamic State in the Levant?'

~~~
"Israel aspires to a Jewish state, and IS aspires to an Islamic state, and here we are, suspended between Jewish extremism and Islamic extremism.
"[IS leader] Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi will have an excuse to establish an Islamic state after the Jewish state law is approved."
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu shared the intention behind his support for a new bill to refocus Israel on religious law, rather than secular law:
"I want to anchor in this law, that it will be a Basic Law that the state of
Israel arose and exists on the basis of the Torah and the Jewish tradition . . . "
"(IS's) quest for an ethnically pure Sunni state mirrors the quest for a Jewish state eventually carved out of Palestine in 1948. Its tactics are much like those of the Jewish guerrillas who used violence, terrorism, foreign fighters, clandestine arms shipments and foreign money, along with horrific ethnic cleansing and the massacre of hundreds of Arab civilians, to create Israel."
Gray area in the map below shows the area controlled by ISIL in Syria and Iran as of January 2015. The so called 'Islamic State' is enforcing a violent extremist interpretation of Sharia law in the territories it controls:
  1. ISIL perspective: I have read many articles and analysis of ISIL and their proclaimed caliph. However, chapter 1 of 'A Concise History of the Arabs,' by John McHugo really clarified for me what ISIL is trying to do (in part) and what, (also in part) is their underlying motivation, as well as some understanding of their doctrinal direction. While the chapter does not directly address ISIL at least not as far as I have read at the moment, combined with all the other information I have absorbed, I feel I have a much clearer picture of the situation. I highly recommend the book for this purpose. The author has a different take on the issues of the Middle East and the Holy Land than do most writers. It would probably be most useful to read the introduction before diving into chapter one.
  2. "ISIL threatened Hamas in a video shared online earlier this month, pledging to end the faction's rule in the territory."
    "Two people have been injured in multiple car explosions in northern Gaza City, Palestinian security sources say.
    "The sources said six explosions took place at same time on Sunday morning (7.19.15) in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood.
    "The cars belonged to officials of Islamic Jihad, Hamas and its armed wing, the Qassam Brigades."
