Water + Oil = Apartheid

The California Oil & Gas Industry uses and contaminates 2 million gallons of water every day.

Meanwhile  "Searing drought spurs California to tap Israeli R&D:"

None the less, much of the bottled water on the market comes from California:

And Israel is stealing Palestinian oil and gas:

IDF's Gaza assault is to control Palestinian gas, avert Israeli energy crisis:

To more clearly understand how this all adds up to apartheid please see our posts on war crimes.  Please boycott all bottled water to whatever extent you can.  And park your car, at least one day a month.  We can be the change!

Rogue States?

This is a work in progress . . .

The US – a Rogue State – Has No Business Enforcing ‘International Norms’

"If the U.S. government submitted itself to prosecution for war crimes through the ICC, perhaps Assad would have been hauled before the court long ago. Of course, in that case  President Obama would hesitate bombing Syria without UN Security Council approval, a war crime punishable through a trial at the ICC. After the international crimes of the Bush administration, which included illegal wars, worldwide torture regimes, and countless breaches of the Geneva Convention, nobody in Washington wants to even think about ceding America to the international legal regime."

"When it wants to bomb another country, Washington always resorts to rhetoric about rogue states flouting international law. If only the U.S. wasn’t one of those rogue states flouting international law, it might have some particle of legitimacy in enforcing those norms. Maybe."

The article discusses international law, the International Criminal Court (ICC), chemical weapons, Chemical Weapons Convention, Geneva Protocol,  Hague, Rome Statute, and war crimes.

Israel Uses Gaza to Test and Market Weapons

Israeli drones used to bomb Palestinians in Gaza, for sale to all takers:

This Hermes 900 model was used in the Gaza offensive last summer, as documented in the article directly below.  It is pictured here, in an exhibit in Paris during an air show in 2007.  This is a product that Israel continues to market as is also explained in the article below.  Please also scroll down on this  ISDEF web page to see how Israel uses its violent and devastating offensives against Gaza to market technology and training. Their new marketing trade show is scheduled for June 2 - 4, 2015 in Tel-Aviv.  This is technology and training that may soon be utilized by the law  enforcement agencies, near you.  If we don't stand up for Palestinians, we may all end up being treated like we allow them to be treated.  It is up to us to be the change!

An Israeli drone conference is featuring a product recently used on Gaza

9.16.2014,  the Quartz journal:

"A few weeks after Israel and Hamas signed an open-ended truce to end their nearly two-month-long war in Gaza, Israeli defense contractors are parading weapons used in the conflict at a conference in Tel Aviv."

Israeli drone models on display in Paris, 2009:

Political murders and assassinations are now made by unmanned drones at no risk of life or limb to the perpetrators.  Gaza is the testing ground.  Your own freedom and democracy may be the next victim.

Who's Profiting from Israel's Offensive in Gaza?

 10.3.2014,  The Real News:

"Every two years or so, the Israeli military attacks Gaza, attacks the Gaza Strip, and causes a lot of destruction. But right after each one of those attacks, there is a trade show in which Israeli weapon companies show their wares, show their technologies, and boast that these are the very technologies that have been used just now against Palestinians in Gaza."

Medical personnel claim Israel tested new weapons during attacks on Gaza

9.6.2014, The Irish Times:

Israel Declares War on Human Rights

Israel kills human rights defenders and their families

The article outlines an appalling number of human rights workers who have been killed, as well as those who have been detained or other wise prevented from doing their important work. It closes with this statement:

"The UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders provides for the support and protection of human rights defenders in the context of their work. It mentions existing rights in a way that makes it easier to apply them to the role and situation of human rights defenders.

"The declaration includes the right to conduct human rights work, to collect information relating to human rights, to criticize the functioning of governmental bodies, to offer legal assistance and advice in defense of human rights, as well as the right to attend public hearings, proceedings and trials to assess compliance with national and international law. It also includes the right to receive resources — including from abroad — for the purpose of protecting human rights.

"Given the scale of the killing of civilians Israel is perpetrating in Gaza, it is more urgent than ever that Israel be required to respect these rights and stop obstructing the work of human rights defenders."

Please read the entire article.  (Also included in War Crimes post.)

"Hague court under western pressure not to open Gaza war crimes inquiry"

" . . .  The ICC's founding charter, the 1998 Rome statute (pdf), describes as a war crime "the transfer, directly or indirectly, by the occupying power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies"." .  .  .   "I think the prosecutor could easily exercise jurisdiction. Law is a choice. There are competing legal arguments, but she should look at the preamble to the ICC statute which says the purpose of the court is to prevent impunity."  . . .  "Potential ICC investigation into actions of both the IDF and Hamas in Gaza has become a fraught political battlefield".

"Unlawful forced transfer"

"Israeli occupation soldiers surrounded the home of Palestinian Legislative Council member Khalida Jarrar in Ramallah to hand her a military order in the early hours of 20 August.

"Jarrar was ordered to leave Ramallah and travel to the district of Jericho where she would be required to stay for six months. The military order is supposedly based on secret information and states that Jarrar “poses a threat to the security of the region, so she must be put under special monitoring.”

"Jarrar — who is a senior member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and a board member of Addameer Prisoner Support — refused to sign the order. Forced transfers are a violation of international law."

Lies and lying have been frequent tactics used by Israeli governmental bodies--which I will eventually be able to document on this blog.

"Ferguson Police Chief Lied About Why He Released Alleged Michael Brown Robbery Tape: Report"

"Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson lied when he said he had received "many" specific requests for the videotape that allegedly shows Michael Brown robbing a convenience store, according to a new report.

"All I did -- what I did was -- was release the videotape to you, because I had to," Jackson told reporters on Aug. 15 when asked why he released the robbery footage. "I’d been sitting on it, but I -- too many people put in a [Freedom of Information Act] request for that thing, and I had to release that tape to you."

Writing for The Blot, Matthew Keys reports that the police department did not receive any specific requests for the videotape.

"A review of open records requests sent to the Ferguson Police Department found that no news organization, reporter or individual specifically sought the release of the surveillance tape before police distributed it on Aug. 15," Keys writes."

Just days after her 90th birthday, Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein was arrested Monday in St. Louis when she was part of a protest outside Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon’s office. Epstein was born in Germany and left in 1939 on a Kindertransport to England. Her parents died in Auschwitz. Epstein is a co-founder of the St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee and St. Louis branch of Jewish Voice for Peace. In 2011, she was part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and was a passenger on the U.S.-flagged ship, The Audacity of Hope.
