Congress is Out of Order

Quick Action: Lets get our congress back in order!

Israel should not be attempting to run the U.S. Congress.
Congress should not be looking to the Israeli Prime Minster for leadership.

Here's why we need to act:

First, House Speaker John Boehner, in a totally illegal move, invited the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, to speak before congress without first discussing it with our President.  Why was this totally illegal?  "There is one key job . . .  that the founding fathers assigned to the president alone. The Constitution says that the president “shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers” from foreign governments."  http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2015/03/01/netanyahu-invite-is-a-symptom-of-boehners-grudge-match-against-the-u-s-constitution/

Second, during the speech, Netanyahu made a number of claims that have were meant to influence the U.S. congress regarding Iran and its nuclear aspirations. Some of these claims have been shown to be exaggerations and others to be out right lies.  Please see the following articles:  Did Benjamin Netanyahu Lie To Congress? 5 Fact-Checked Claims From The Speech and Netanyahu speech: Fact-checking 5 key claims.  (The don't cover the exact same 5 issues.) Iran's response to Netanyahu's speech is also worth looking into:  Some people consider peace 'an existential threat.'

Now, 47 republican members of the U.S. Congress, under the influence of Netanyahu's speech, have taken it upon themselves to write a totally illegal letter to Iran in an attempt to derail in-progress and on-going nuclear negotiations:  The misguided, condescending letter from Republican senators to Iran.  Not only was the letter misguided and condescending, it is a direct violation of the Logan Act: Republican Congressmen Violated Logan Act By Negotiating With Foreign LeadersThe Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif responded to the letter, proving that he is more knowledgeable about U.S. policy and procedure as well as international law than our own governmental officials: GOP senators don ‘Kick me” sign; Iranian official obliges.

The truly unfortunate thing for our country, is that this total disregard by congress for the rule of law and for following established policies and procedures, is likely to harm both our continuing ability to govern ourselves and our standing in the international community as well.  The following article shows how this could play out:  By telling Tehran not to negotiate with the president of the United States, the party threatens America’s status . . .

While it isn't mentioned in the article, Israel has nuclear weapons, and isn't a signer of the non-proliferation treaty.
