Defend Palestine's Supporters

Quick Action!

Defend Palestine Supporters from "ANTI-SEMITISM" Slander

"Unfounded accusations of anti-Semitism directed at Palestine supporters -- many of them Jewish -- are nothing new. Today, these attacks are a desperate response to escalating support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which demands an end to the 1967 Occupation, right of return for Palestinian refugees, and full equality for Palestinian citizens of Israel. This campaign explicitly condemns all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism.

"Those Jewish students who close their eyes to Israel's ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people will inevitably be made “uncomfortable” by such protests, no matter what form they take. Supporters of apartheid South Africa or Jim Crow no doubt felt the same when confronted by protest against those regimes. Indeed, the right to protest was attacked on similarly unconstitutional grounds during earlier civil rights, antiwar, and anti-apartheid movements."

Walmart Boycott

Delta Galil produces the clothing sold by Walmart:   http://deltagalil.com/brands/customer_licensees/

Delta Galil operates in the illegally occupied territory.  Delta Galil “ . . has a warehouse in the Barkan industrial zone, which is an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.  Delta also has shops in two israeli settlements in the West Bank: Ma’aleh Adumim and Pisgat Ze'ev.” http://www.whoprofits.org/company/delta-galil-industries

Delta Galil’s sales for 2014 reached 1 billion.  Their income is growing, because of their sneaky strategies:  http://deltagalil.com/ir/  Also see:  http://deltagalil.com/delta-galil-reports-strong-performance-third-quarter-2014/

Delta Galil is a stealth operator, whose primary business is producing clothing that is sold around the world under other brand names.  Delta Galil produces much of the clothing sold under Walmart’s house brands, which include products labeled George, Baby George, George Baby, Faded Glory, No Boundaries, NOBO, Simply Basic, and Starter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Walmart_brands#Apparel

Additionally, Delta Galil’s Walmart products are also sold under the brand names ‘Organically Grown’ and ‘Organically Grown Kids:’  http://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/74752/organically-grown-signs-licensees.html

Delta Galil admits paying slave wages for profit and genocide:  “Delta Galil’s CEO Dov Lautman explains frankly, ‘There’s no way you can sew in any western country, not even in Israel where labor costs are too high.’ The average monthly salary of $1,000 in Israel is incomparable to the $100—$150 that capitalists like Lautman can pay Jordanian women in the industrial zones. Lautman explains the convenience of the trade zones for Israeli capitalists like himself, who can leave Tel Aviv by car at six in the morning, arrive at Irbid in northern Jordan by nine, and be back in Haifa on the Mediterranean coast by three in the afternoon. The trade zones are also thought to alleviate the ‘population momentum bomb,’ owing to the fact that the Arab women who work in the zones for slave wages will be less likely to have large families if they are employed.  http://www.isreview.org/issues/36/toufic.shtml

See more about Delta Galil on our post about Victoria’s Secret.  Yep, they make Victoria’s Secret clothing too:  http://boycott4peace.blogspot.com/2015/02/boycott-victorias-secret.html

Walmart isn’t Innocent

Walmart leads the world in labor exploitation:

Walmart drives up U.S. taxes by paying low wages.  “ . . .  every Walmart store in America  costs citizens $1.7 million in welfare benefits such as food stamps. Taxpayers are effectively subsidizing the retailer for its failure to pay employees a living wage.”  http://mediaroots.org/walmarts-people-above-profit-model-low-prices-with-a-heavy-cost/

Walmart pushes small local businesses into bankruptcy.  “The material benefit [of below cost pricing] to consumers is marginal and temporary, but the restriction of competition by placing unfair obstacles before medium-sized retailers is clear and lasting . . .”  http://ilsr.org/walmart-charged-predatory-pricing/

Walmart also leads the U.S. in environmental destruction.  It is one of the largest, fastest growing climate polluters in America. Walmart and their owners fund politicians who consistently vote against environmental protections and they are working hard at generating more trash for landfills:  http://makingchangeatwalmart.org/factsheet/environment/

Walmart has many more ugly issues.  Mouse over and then click the photo icons on the link below to find more articles that may interest you; including Walmart’s discrimination against women, people of color, and LGBT workers:  http://makingchangeatwalmart.org/

Time 2 Choose

Sign the Pledge to Take Action, and ask your Congress People to Take Action as well!

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's recent racist appeals and rejection of a Palestinian state have caused a political earthquake that could once and for all change the conversation about Israel. Help us get 20,000 signatures on this Open Letter that says It's time to stop waiting for a false peace process and using only words of criticism. We must instead start embracing all forms of nonviolent pressure on Israel.

Change in Israel Will Only Come from Outside Pressure

" . . . We believe it is now time to say clearly that liberation for Palestinians, millions of whom have lived under military rule for most of Israel’s existence, and liberation for Jewish Israelis, whose society is becomingly increasingly militarized, anti-democratic and racist, can only be achieved through outside pressure from people like us.

"The time to choose is now-—we can continue to delay justice by holding onto the illusion of a false peace process or offering only words of criticism, or we can stand on the side of freedom and equality, and embrace all forms of nonviolent pressure on Israel.

"We therefore call on all who seek freedom for the people of Israel and Palestine to choose justice, and to join us in asking friends, loved ones, community leaders, institutions and elected officials to put pressure on Israel to reach a just agreement with the Palestinians.

"Whether through lobbying Congress; implementing Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaigns; advocating for the US to stop using its veto at the UN; supporting Palestinians’ right to go to the ICC or other international bodies; or continuing to transform the conversation within the American Jewish community— only by building a grassroots movement, rooted in values many of us learned at the Passover table, can we achieve the liberation of all peoples in the region."
