Wishing everyone a happy apartheid free Thanksgiving!
We boycott for many reasons, if you haven't already, you can read about some of them here: http://boycott4peace.blogspot.com/search/label/why%20we%20boycott
~~~
First on our boycott list for Thanksgiving is the Nestle Corporation, which owns Libby’s Pumpkin Products, Libby’s Juicy Juice (not pictured), and Carnation Milk. ~
“If you should remember only one reason why you should
boycott Nestlé for, it would certainly be the
Research and Development facility that the Swiss giant has opened in Sderot in
2002, on the stolen Palestinian lands. Products made of cereals are developed there by Nestlé for Israel
and the entire world.” http://www.al-kanz.org/2014/10/02/israeli-boycott-nestle/
Another very good point to keep in mind is that “In 1998, Mr. Peter Brabeck-Letmathe
on behalf of Nestle, received the Jubilee Award by the Israeli Prime Minister
Netanyahu. This is the highest tribute ever awarded by the "State of
Israel" in recognition of those individuals and organizations, that
through their investments and trade relationships, have done the most to
strengthen the Israeli economy.” More information and a list of some of the
other brands owned by Nestle can be found here:
If you need more reasons or documentation,
please see our blog post, ‘Don’t Fund Real Horror.’ It’s not just about Palestine! http://boycott4peace.blogspot.com/2014/10/dont-fund-real-horror.html
Carnation Milk, another Nestle brand, offers
canned milk, sweetened condensed milk, and the ‘Famous Fudge’ pictured above: https://www.verybestbaking.com/Carnation
The Kraft Brand does its best to fly under
the radar, internationally, concerning its connections to Israel, but if you
search them out you can find them. “Kraft Foods Israel has . . . launched a series of strategic moves
aimed at making its activity in Israel more efficient and raising the public's
awareness to the brand name:” http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3832858,00.html
Kraft Foods also owns 'Country Time
Lemonade,' a SodaStream collaborator.
More information on SodaStream can be found below in the section on
OceanSpray. Here’s a link documenting the Kraft-Country Time connection: http://www.kraftfoodsgroup.com/brands/largest-brands/brands-C/Pages/country-time.aspx
Kraft foods are subject to many boycotts
for many other reasons, search on – Kraft Boycott – and you will find lots of
reasons to leave their products out of your shopping cart.
OceanSpray is one of SodaStream’s
collaborators, and SodaStream is one of the main current focuses of consumer
BDS campaigns. This press release
outlines the partnership: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/sodastream-and-ocean-spray-announce-partnership-to-bring-homemade-sparkle-to-cranberry-juice-flavors-193521051.html
More information on the SodaStream boycott
can be found here: http://boycott4peace.blogspot.com/2014/11/dont-believe-sodastream.html
There are also reasons to boycott OceanSpray
that have nothing to do with SodaStream or Israeli apartheid. Google – Boycott OceanSpray – and see for yourself!
ReplyDelete'Corporate Transgressions Through Moral Disengagement'
ReplyDeletePage 5 discusses Nestle and a bit of their whole infant formula debacle. However, it ignores the fact that Nestle continues to market infant formula in third world countries, as well as all the other corporate misdeeds that Nestle profits from throughout its operations and product lines.
"Forced child labor (Côte d'Ivoire) In July 2005, the International Labor Rights Fund filed suit against Cargill, Nestlé and Archer Daniels Midland in Federal District Court in Los Angeles on behalf of a class of Malian children who were trafficked from Mali into Côte d'Ivoire and forced to work twelve to fourteen hours a day with no pay, little food and sleep, and frequent beatings. The three children acting as class representative plaintiffs are proceeding anonymously, as John Does, because of feared retaliation by the farm owners where they worked. The complaint alleges their involvement in the trafficking, torture, and forced labor of children who cultivate and harvest cocoa beans which the companies import from Africa." Carnation, Libby's, and OceanSpray all use cans lined with BPA.
ReplyDelete"You may know that bisphenol A, a synthetic estrogen found in the epoxy coatings of food cans, has been linked to many health problems. Many companies have publicly pledged to stop using BPA in their cans. But consumers like you have had no way to know which canned foods use BPA-based epoxy. Until now.
"EWG analyzed 252 canned food brands, mostly between January and August 2014, to find out which of them packed their food into cans coated with BPA-laden epoxy. Here’s what they discovered.
